Job Description
Roofer – Roofers install, repair or replace
flat roofs and shingles, metal, shakes and tile on steep slope roofs.
Working Conditions: Roofing work is strenuous.
It involves heavy lifting, as well as climbing, bending, and kneeling.
Roofers work outdoors in all types of weather, particularly when
making repairs. These workers risk slips or falls from scaffolds,
ladders, or roofs, or burns from hot bitumen. In addition, roofs
become extremely hot during the summer.
The
CCR roofing apprenticeship is a three-year program for qualified
applicants which is designed to teach the employee the technical
skills of the roofing trade in order to produce skilled journeyworkers

program lasts 6,000 hours or three years and incorporates a minimum
of 144 hours annually of related classroom instruction. The apprentice’s
progress, both in the job performances and related instruction is
evaluated every six months and appropriate records are maintained.
If the employee demonstrates satisfactory progress in both on-the-job
training and related instruction, an advance in wages will be provided
yearly as outlined in the CCR apprenticeship agreement.
